Eden Shalev
Who is Eden Shalev? Can you tell us about your journey and how you became part of the electronic music scene?
Eden Shalev is my legal name, I decided to go with this name as my alias when I started to produce, I feel like it represents what I want to give to my audience and it`s my true self. I`m a House Artist, Influenced by many different cultures, from African to Middle Eastern and some European. I’m 31 and currently live in Israel. I’ve been working on remixes and producing tracks in the Israeli music scene for years. From 2012 to 2017, I focused on remixes, racking up hundreds of thousands—sometimes even millions—of views that made the connection with the global house scene. A couple of years later, I decided to go “all-in” with my original house energy, diving into organic tribal house with a blend of African and Middle Eastern influences. It’s a mix of styles and cultures that I truly connect with.
Your release “Papi”, along with your other tracks, has been gaining significant attention. Which track holds a special place in your heart, and why? You could say that Papi is my baby and I can truly say it has a special place in my heart. It’s the track that essentially opened all the doors for me to the big world of the Afro-house and tribal music industry. People love *Papi* because it’s a very punchy track with a highly innovative style something you don’t hear every day. Additionally, the word “Papi” is incredibly popular, as many people interpret it in their ways, giving it various unique meanings. And I can sum it up by saying that after this track… Everything just opened up and started happening.
Can you share more about your collaboration with Cafe De Anatolia and your recent track “Taya Tere”? Working with Cafe De Anatolia felt natural, It felt like my track was in good hands. Also, I love the genre and style of the label, as well as the way it’s run. I’m very happy to say that the track reached great heights in the Afro-house and electronic music scene. I also want to emphasize that the team is incredibly professional it’s such a pleasure to work with new and talented people.
What does a typical day in the life of Eden Shalev look like? Do you have any routines or rituals that keep you inspired? Like every ordinary person, I wake up and make myself a good cup of coffee. After that, I go into the studio and then the magic happens. Some days I work on new productions, some days I only work on sound design, and some days I just relax and expand my knowledge. Of course, a lot of it comes from experience I’ve gained over the years so I can feel comfortable in the studio and just flow with my mind.
What advice would you give to aspiring producers and DJs looking to make their mark in the electronic music world? Keep making music. You can always take inspiration from famous people, but always try to be creative and as true to yourself as possible. And, of course, always release music—don’t hold back. You can never know what will happen with your track, you just can’t. These days, anything can happen at any time.
