Over a year after teasing a highly anticipated collaboration with Miley Cyrus, Calvin Harris has officially confirmed that the track will never be released with her vocals. Instead, the superstar producer revealed that singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez will take Cyrus’ place on the upcoming single, tentatively titled “Ocean.”
Calvin Harris Teases “Ocean” with Jessie Reyez
Earlier this week, Harris shared a fresh snippet of the track on TikTok. Fans, who had been waiting for the Miley Cyrus version since May 2024, were quick to notice her absence. His caption, “Yes I love it #newmusic #ocean,” fueled confusion as it made no mention of Cyrus.
The comments section immediately lit up with speculation, with some followers suggesting possible tension between the two artists. Harris was quick to set the record straight.
No Bad Blood Between Calvin Harris and Miley Cyrus
Responding directly to fan concerns, Harris praised Cyrus’ talent and clarified the situation. “I love Miley,” he wrote, calling her voice “amazing.” He explained that the switch happened because of “crossed wires” during the creative process and assured fans that there was “absolutely not!!” any bad blood between them.
In fact, Harris revealed that Jessie Reyez had been involved from the very start. Not only is Reyez performing the final vocals, but she also wrote the lyrics for “Ocean.”
Will Miley Cyrus’ Version Ever Be Released?
Unfortunately for fans holding out hope, Harris confirmed that Cyrus’ recording will remain unheard. “I’m afraid not,” he admitted when asked if her version would ever surface.
As of now, neither Calvin Harris nor Jessie Reyez has confirmed an official release date for “Ocean.” However, the TikTok teaser has already built major anticipation for what’s to come.
