Black Coffee Moves New York Show to Central Park After Brooklyn Mirage Shutdown

After months of uncertainty, Grammy-winning DJ Black Coffee has announced a special headlining show at Central Park’s SummerStage on Sunday, August 24, 2025, bringing relief to fans left hanging after the collapse of his Brooklyn Mirage residency.

Residency Cancelled Amid Avant Gardner’s Bankruptcy

Black Coffee was originally scheduled to kick off a four-date residency at the Brooklyn Mirage starting May 3, 2025. However, the residency was abruptly canceled as the Mirage’s parent company, Avant Gardner, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The company was burdened with $155.3 million in debt, and its ambitious $30 million redesign of the Mirage never materialized. Safety inspection failures, permit disputes, and financial setbacks forced the iconic venue to shutter its doors, canceling an entire year of scheduled programming.

Major artists including Alesso, Subtronics, The Chainsmokers, and rising star Sara Landry were among those affected. Avant Gardner later replaced its former CEO Josh Wyatt with nightlife veteran Gary Richards, but the venue is not expected to reopen until at least June 2026.

Black Coffee’s SummerStage Pivot

While fans were left frustrated throughout the summer, Black Coffee reassured them with a heartfelt message on social media:

“New York! It’s been heartbreaking to miss you all Summer, but I knew I had to make it up to you… Let’s meet this Sunday in Central Park.”

The announcement of the SummerStage performance not only salvages what could have been a lost summer for fans but also offers a rare opportunity to experience Black Coffee’s signature house sound in the heart of Central Park’s skyline backdrop.

Why This Show Matters

For New Yorkers, the upcoming SummerStage event represents more than just a makeup date—it’s a moment of revival for a nightlife community shaken by the Mirage’s closure. Black Coffee’s decision to move the show to Central Park ensures fans won’t miss out on one of the most anticipated performances of the year.
