Tell us more about yourself and your music career?
I’m an Australian-born artist with Italian and French heritage, and a single mum to two grown, beautiful boys. Beyond music, I run my own business in the beauty industry, which I’ve been lucky to find success in through hard work and dedication. Music has been a constant in my life, especially during tough times. What started as a hobby to express myself eventually grew into something much bigger—a passion, a purpose, and my happy place. What makes my music personal is the emotional connection I have with it. That same connection is what I want to share with my audience. My goal is for my music to not just make people move but also make them feel something deeply. It’s still early days in my music career, but I’m excited about what the future holds. Whether I “make it” or not, I’m just grateful for the journey and the beauty of how music can impact the mind and soul.
Write a short paragraph about your RELEASE (your inspiration, process, genre, instruments used in it, and the story behind its creation)?
“Habibi” blends Afro house with melodic, high-energy vibes, inspired by the fusion of Middle Eastern sounds and my desire to create something uplifting. The process involved experimenting with textures and instruments like the Turkish baglama, piano, bass synth, and bells, adding depth to the track. I also incorporated a saw synth lead, kick, hi-hats, and shakers to build a unique, big-energy piece. It was one of the hardest songs I’ve ever started and completed, but it was entirely worth the effort.
What is your connection with Cafe De Anatolia?
My connection with Cafe De Anatolia is built on a shared passion for blending diverse cultural influences to create music that transcends boundaries.
My newest Afro house track, Habibi, featuring the incredible Nes Mburu, perfectly aligns with the label’s ethos. It captures Arabian and African elements, celebrating connection and storytelling through music.
Releasing Habibi under Cafe De Anatolia feels like the perfect fit, as their global reach and dedication to culturally inspired sounds amplify the track’s message and energy. I’m honored to be part of their legacy.
What initially sparked your passion for music, and how did you decide to pursue a career in the industry?
Music has always been my escape and therapy. Growing up, it made me feel free and connected to something bigger. After some tough times, I realized life’s too short not to chase your dreams, no matter how big or far away they may seem.
DJing and producing allow me to tell stories, connect with people, and live my truth. It’s not just a career—it’s a calling, and I’m loving every moment of it.
Can you share a memorable moment from your music career that significantly impacted your artistic journey?
One unforgettable moment was hearing my first track played live by another DJ to a big crowd. Watching people dance and connect to something I created brought tears to my eyes.
That moment reminded me of music’s power to move people and reinforced why I do this: to inspire, connect, and share my journey through my music.
As an artist, how do you approach the creative process? Do you have specific rituals or methods to get into the creative mindset?
My creative process is a mix of chaos and caffeine, especially after running my business all day and pursuing music by night! Hahaha.
I usually start with a story—whether it’s from personal experience or an emotion like love, heartbreak, or euphoria. Sometimes, inspiration hits me at 2 a.m. while I’m lying in bed. The process is as unpredictable as my Spotify playlist, but it works.
The key is focusing on the emotion I want to convey. And as a vocalist girl, I love incorporating powerful, emotional vocals that resonate deeply.
What sets your music apart from others in the industry? What makes your sound unique?
What sets my music apart is the raw energy and emotion I bring to every track. I mix great vocals, unexpected sounds, and genres to create something fresh and real.
When I DJ, I’m not just behind the decks—I’m fully immersed, dancing and vibing with the crowd. It’s all about sharing a connection and telling stories that resonate. My goal is to leave people with a sense of freedom and joy.
How do you handle challenges or setbacks in your music career? Is there a particular experience that taught you valuable lessons?
Challenges are part of any journey. At one point, a track I was proud of didn’t get the recognition I hoped for, and it stung. But setbacks are opportunities to learn and grow.
Honestly, I never expected music to become more than a hobby. I started as a bedroom DJ just a year ago, so I try to laugh off setbacks, learn, and keep pushing forward. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and that’s okay.
Collaboration is crucial in the music world. Have you collaborated with other artists, and how has it influenced your musical direction?
Collaboration has been essential in expanding my music. Working with other artists brings fresh perspectives and pushes me to experiment with new sounds and ideas.
It’s not just about adding someone else’s touch but creating something unique together. Collaboration keeps me inspired and ensures my sound continues to evolve.
How do you leverage digital platforms and social media to connect with fans and promote your music?
Navigating the digital world is a rollercoaster, especially since I’m not a social media expert. At 41, cracking algorithms feels like chasing a moving target!
That said, it’s a powerful tool for reaching fans globally. While I’m still figuring out the business side of music, the moments of connection make the hustle worthwhile.
What’s your favorite part of being a musician?
Connecting with the audience and seeing how my music resonates emotionally.
What role do live performances play in your career?
They’re exciting and allow me to connect with a larger audience. I’m building confidence to take on bigger stages soon.
What advice would you give aspiring musicians?
Stay true to yourself and your dreams, and enjoy the journey. Success takes time, but passion and patience pay off.
