Can you tell us more about your release?

Space Castorz & Alexandra Savvidi – Running (released on August 11, 2023)

This release holds a special place for us as it marks our venture into the realm of “organic house/afro house,” a departure from our familiar tech house and techno styles. Upon discovering Alexandra through social media, we sensed her remarkable voice deserved an ambient, gentle backdrop. We carefully curated instruments that evoke the sensation of wandering through a desolate desert, where Alexandra’s voice becomes the guiding light to your destination. This fusion of sound and narrative inspired a unique creative journey, resulting in a composition that’s both new territory and a fitting showcase for her captivating vocals.

We became acquainted with Cafe De Anatolia through social media. Prior to that, we hadn’t come across this record label, but we quickly realised it was much more than just a label; it was a tight-knit community with a shared goal of spreading music to the world. From the outset, we felt warmly welcomed by the Cafe De Anatolia family. When they expressed interest in our track, we were genuinely astonished. Their support has been both validating and motivating, reinforcing our connection and commitment to creating music that resonates on a broader scale.

As an artist, how do you approach the creative process? Do you have any specific rituals or methods to get into the creative mindset?

Alexandra: I always live in a creative mindset. I work not only in the studio. I can also write the song in my mind when I’m walking, when I’m driving in the car, when I’m watering my flowers… And yes, I have a couple of rituals 😉 For example: When I record vocals in the studio, I’m not “in the studio.” I close my eyes and am transported to the story and feelings that I sing about, imagining that this is happening to me at this moment.

Space Castorz: As artist siblings, our creative process thrives on our close relationship. Studio time together elevates our creativity and motivates us to excel in every release. Our approach doesn’t rely on rigid rituals, but rather on open communication, collaborative brainstorming, and valuable feedback. Sharing experiences and taking breaks as a team are also instrumental in maintaining our creative flow. Listening to influential artists and discovering emerging talents like Alexandra Savvidi adds depth to our process. By drawing inspiration from both established figures and new voices, we enrich our artistic perspective and bring fresh ideas to our work. Our collaborative dynamic and exposure to a diverse range of artists fuel our creativity, contributing to our continuous growth and improvement.

Collaboration is a crucial aspect of the music world. Have you collaborated with other artists, and if so, how has it influenced your musical direction?

Alexandra Savvidi: Yes, and I love it so much. I like different directions in music, and collaborations give me the opportunity to work with different styles and meet interesting musicians.

Space Castorz: Collaboration holds immense significance. We’ve engaged in partnerships with fellow artists, profoundly impacting our musical trajectory. Constructive input and exposure to fresh methods and viewpoints have deepened our industry insight, fostering both advancement and creativity.

How would you describe your style of music? Where do you find inspiration?

Alexandra: I dream all the time.

Space Castorz: Having delved into electronic music for over a decade, our inspiration comes from a range of sources. While our roots lie in electronic genres, we also draw from diverse influences like drum and bass, hip hop, and trap. This eclectic blend fuels our electronic creations with a distinctive flair, ensuring our sound remains vibrant and innovative. Moreover, artists like Fisher, John Summit, and Westend serve as constant wellsprings of inspiration. Their music ignites our creativity daily, pushing us to explore new sonic territories and refine our craft.

What is your best time of the day to create?

Alexandra: This time is always different. It happens I enter the studio for 5 minutes and leave after two hours. It’s unpredictable. Sometimes early in the morning, and sometimes before bedtime, when I want to sleep, but I can’t stop because I caught a magic flow.

Space Castorz: Our creative process doesn’t have a fixed “best” time. Some days, the music effortlessly pours out at any hour. But there are also days when finding that perfect sound, like the ideal kick, can be tough. The important thing is to stay dedicated to the process, regardless of the time, and embrace the natural ups and downs of creativity.
