Roman Durta – Alchymysta
Can you introduce yourself to our audience?
I’m Roman Durta, known artistically as Alchymysta. I was born in Slovakia, where I often felt like I didn’t quite fit in. I’ve always had the urge to explore, to create, and to search for something beyond the ordinary. That curiosity led me to Los Angeles when I was 20 — and from the very beginning, it felt like home.
Photography was my first artistic outlet. It taught me discipline and gave me a way to see the world differently. But as much as I loved it, I realized that sound, not images, was my true language. Music allowed me to express emotion in ways words or pictures couldn’t.
Now, most of my days are spent in the studio. I’d describe myself as easygoing, introspective, and constantly evolving. I’ve gone from being “the party guy” to finding my peace and identity in quiet creation. That transformation defines who I am — both as a person and as Alchymysta.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music, specifically in electronic genres?
Choosing music never felt like a decision — it felt like destiny. Every experience in my life seemed to point me in that direction. I believe in synchronicity, and when I started creating music, everything began to align.
Electronic music, in particular, has always spoken to me. My older brother introduced me to it, and I was instantly captivated by its freedom — there are no limits, no rules, only emotion. I love that it can connect people who might otherwise have nothing in common. On the dancefloor, all differences disappear. That energy, that unity — that’s the kind of magic I want to share through my sound.
How would you describe your style and sound?
My sound is deep, atmospheric, and emotional — rooted in tribal percussion and layered with cinematic melodies. I aim to create spaces where people can lose themselves completely, whether on the dancefloor or in solitude.
It’s not just about rhythm for me — it’s about feeling. I want my music to touch both the body and the soul, to move people emotionally and physically. That delicate balance between depth, atmosphere, and emotion is what defines Alchymysta.
Tell us about your latest release — “Eremos.”
The word Eremos means “a desolate place.” I created the track during a period of intentional isolation. I had decided to step away from social distractions and dedicate all my time to music.
At first, the solitude felt strange — almost heavy — but over time, it became liberating. That emotional journey shaped the sound of Eremos. It carries the feeling of being disconnected from the outside world yet deeply connected to yourself.
What message or emotion do you want listeners to take away from this release?
Eremos is about solitude — not loneliness, but the kind of solitude where you strip away everything unnecessary and rediscover your essence.
While creating it, I felt both detached and free. I wanted to capture that paradox: how silence can reveal truth, and how isolation can bring clarity. I hope listeners feel that same peace — that sense of stillness and freedom within themselves.
Can you walk us through your creative process?
Every time I start a track, I close my eyes and imagine a breathtaking outdoor scene — usually during sunset. I visualize the colors, the wind, the energy of that moment. Then I ask myself: What song would I want to hear right now?
That vision becomes my compass. The rhythms, textures, and melodies are built to fit that emotional landscape. I don’t start from technicality — I start from feeling. Once the essence is clear, the production naturally flows around it.
How does this release differ from your previous work?
Eremos is my first official release, which makes it incredibly meaningful. Until now, I’ve been learning, experimenting, and building my sound in the background. This track marks the moment I felt ready to share my music with the world — it’s the beginning of my story as an artist.
What do you think is the biggest challenge for artists in the electronic music industry today?
For me, the biggest challenge is tuning out the noise — not just external distractions, but the internal pressure to keep up with trends. The industry moves at lightning speed, and it’s easy to lose your identity. I’ve learned that the only way to stand out is to stay true to your purpose and create from a place of authenticity.
What role do events, collaborations, or labels play in shaping your career?
Events are sacred to me — the dancefloor is where I first understood the transformative power of music. Collaborations keep me inspired and evolving.
Working with Café De Anatolia on my debut release was a milestone. They gave me the platform and belief to share my music with the world for the first time — an experience I’ll always be grateful for.
Do you have any advice for aspiring artists?
Give it time. Mastery doesn’t happen overnight. Learn everything — not just about music production, but about yourself.
Invest in your growth, stay consistent, and most importantly, create from the heart. Don’t chase trends; express truth. When your sound comes from an honest place, people will feel it — and that’s what truly connects.
What can your fans expect next?
For now, I’m taking a break from DJing to fully focus on production. My goal is to build a strong catalog of original music and start releasing consistently in the coming year.
When I return to performing, I want every set to reflect who I am as an artist — not just through tracks, but through emotion and storytelling. This is only the beginning of the Alchymysta journey.
