My name is Homayoun Behi, but many people call me Ewan.
My musical journey started at age 12 with traditional Persian folk violin. My teenage years were filled with classical training and stage performances, but at 16, hearing a Psy-Trance track changed everything for me. The energy and sheer freedom of electronic music completely captured my heart. That was the moment I shifted my focus from traditional performance to learning DAWs like FL Studio and Cubase, eventually studying sound design in Tehran.
For years, people still recognized me strictly as a violinist, but starting in 2020, I dedicated myself to building my own path as an electronic music producer.
When I arrived in the UK in 2023 and entered the asylum process, life became unpredictable. Relocating between different hotels in Kettering and Lancaster with limited resources made things challenging, but music was my anchor. In those early days, I even composed a track called “I Arrived” on my mobile phone and later produced on an old gifted laptop until it completely broke down.
Today, my sound is a fusion of Eastern tradition and Western electronic elements, heavily driven by nostalgic 2000s trance synths and blended into Melodic Techno, Trance, and Organic House. Every track I create is a direct piece of this journey and my lifelong passion for electronic sound.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music, specifically in electronic genres?
A festival like Tomorrowland. Lots of excitement.
How would you describe your style and sound?
That I’m still using 2000s synths in 2026 and producing music in the same style. I don’t know; I don’t really have a clear answer!

Tell us about your latest release.
This album, “PASSENGER,” is a raw, real-time documentation of my journey after arriving in the UK in April 2023 to seek asylum. The creative process began under intense uncertainty at the Royal Hotel in Kettering, using a gifted old laptop—and I even produced the track “I Arrived” solely on my mobile phone. Amid unexpected relocations by the Home Office to Lancaster and a complete breakdown of my laptop that left me without gear for weeks, this album became my anchor. It represents resilience and transforming unpredictable life shifts into music.
What message or feeling do you want listeners to take away from this release?
I want listeners to feel that life is unpredictable and we only control about 50% of it. The core message is accepting and living fully in the present moment, rather than constantly planning for tomorrow or next year.
Can you walk us through the creative process behind this project?
The story of this album is a reflection of the philosophy that we only control about 50% of our lives, while the other 50% is completely unpredictable.
Initially, I intended to release this album in late 2024, but life took unexpected turns. After arriving in the UK in April 2023 to claim asylum, I began working on the tracks at the Royal Hotel in Kettering using an old, gifted laptop. When I was first transferred there, I even created a song titled “I Arrived” using only my mobile phone. The Home Office then abruptly relocated us to Lancaster. Six months into my stay there, Cafe De Anatolia accepted one of my tracks named “The Beginning” after having rejected six previous submissions, but I went ahead and released it (it serves as the intro to the album). Afterward, I paused and told the team that I wanted to release a full album titled Passenger. I halted all single releases to focus entirely on finishing this project, continuing to work on that same old laptop until it broke down completely, leaving me without a computer for weeks.
Throughout all these disruptions—the relocations, the broken hardware, and absolute uncertainty—my creative process became an exercise in living strictly in the present moment. I didn’t sit down with the intention of making a happy, sad, or complex song, nor did I plan the outcome of any track. Each song emerged naturally from whatever state of mind I was in at that exact moment. I simply surrendered to the present, making music without attempting to control the final outcome.

What do you think is the biggest challenge for artists in the electronic music industry today?
In my opinion, the biggest challenges for artists today are music sales, streaming monetization, performing live, and securing the proper equipment required for a high-quality performance.

They play a huge role in our careers. My biggest album, ‘Passenger,’ was released through Cafe De Anatolia—one of the top organic house labels in the world. I’m really glad about this collaboration because they played a direct role in giving the album the visibility it received.
