Tell us more about yourself & your music career:
My partner, Tamara (“Luminara”), and I have been producing shows together for many years, often featuring DJs, live musicians, dancers, and elements of theater. Inspired by the changing seasons, our shows have become a staple in the Pacific Northwest. Luminara, my muse, inspired me to make music for dancers, leading to over 300 shows produced together. She continues to inspire my music to this day.
Write a short paragraph about your RELEASE:
My newest release, titled “Drawing Down The Moon,” is named after a central ritual in the Wiccan Tradition. During the ritual, The High Priestess enters a trance state and requests that The Goddess, symbolized by the Moon, enter her body and share wisdom. I have long been fascinated by the power and influence of the Moon, particularly its role in moving the tides. This track, a downtempo Organic House piece, features my signature Romani-inspired guitar, which I feel embodies the mystical quality of the Moon Goddess and the power of this ancient ritual.
What is your connection with Cafe De Anatolia?
I have long been a fan of the music that Cafe De Anatolia curates and often feature tracks from their label in my live sets. When I received the news that Cafe De Anatolia liked my track and wanted to feature it on their label, I felt that my music had finally found a place where it could be fully appreciated.
What initially sparked your passion for music, and how did you decide to pursue a career in the industry?
Music is a powerful unifier, bringing people together and moving us as one. I grew up near New York City and was heavily influenced by both psychedelic rock and the underground dance music scene. My passion for combining these genres led me to pursue a career in music, where I aim to blend the best of both worlds.
Can you share a memorable moment from your music career that made a significant impact on your artistic journey?
At a backyard party in Portland, Oregon, I was captivated by the sound of the Spanish Gypsy Minor scale played on a mandolin. This moment awakened something deep within me and changed my musical direction, leading me to explore this sound and create music specifically for belly and fire dancers.
What sets your music apart from others in the industry? What makes your sound unique?
My background as an acoustic musician and sound engineer, combined with my experience as the Troubadour and Ring Leader in a traveling Fire Theater Troupe, sets me apart. I bring a sense of showmanship to my DJ sets, emphasizing audience connection and incorporating live instruments.
Collaboration is a crucial aspect of the music world. Have you collaborated with other artists, and if so, how has it influenced your musical direction?
Collaborating with other creatives has enriched my musical journey, especially in live event production. My most rewarding collaborations have involved bringing together live musicians and dancers in theater productions, creating a sense of community through these cross-discipline partnerships.
What’s your favorite part of being a musician? Is there a specific aspect of your career that brings you the most joy and fulfillment?
The aspect that brings me the most joy is bringing people together through music and dance. Creating community and connection through our shared love of music and art has infused my life with meaning on every level.
