The Perfect Groove: An Exclusive Interview with Xizuka from Panama on the Creative Vision behind ‘AnThaBox’

Adrian Avila (Xizuka)

Can you introduce yourself to our audience? My name is Adrian Avila, known professionally as Xizuka. I am based in Panama City. My background is actually in medicine—I am a practicing dermatologist—and I began this musical journey in 2025 as a passion project. What started as a hobby has quickly evolved into a mission to take my music beyond frontiers and share my sound with the world.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music, specifically in electronic genres? I have been deeply inspired by artists who master atmosphere and rhythm, such as Emi Galvan, Stan Kolev, Ruben Karapetyan, Melodiam, and Xulnox. Their ability to craft immersive sonic experiences led me to explore the electronic genre as my own creative outlet.

How would you describe your style and sound? My sound is rooted in the “Deep” spectrum, but I always ensure there is a precise amount of groove to keep the energy right for the dancefloor. It’s a balance between melodic depth and rhythmic movement.

Tell us about your latest release, “AnThaBox.” What’s the story behind it? AnThaBox was born from the energy I’ve absorbed at various music festivals. I wanted to capture that festival spirit—creating something energetic and driving without being overly aggressive. It’s a reflection of the sounds that move me when I’m in the crowd.

What message or feeling do you want listeners to take away from this release? I want listeners to feel the energy and movement that Xizuka brings. My goal is for this track to provide a spark of vitality in their lives and on the dancefloor.

Can you walk us through the creative process behind this project? The process involved experimenting with various sounds and synths, carefully layering them to “smoothly compound” a unique piece of art. I truly feel this is my best work to date because it represents a more refined version of my vision.

How does this release differ from your previous work? My earlier projects leaned more toward the mainstream. AnThaBox is different—it explores a more sophisticated, less common soundscape that feels more authentic to who I am as an artist today.

What do you think is the biggest challenge for artists in the electronic music industry today? The biggest challenge is standing out. In an era of intense competition, the hardest part is being truly unique and special. Finding your own voice in a crowded market requires constant dedication.

What role do events, collaborations, or labels play in shaping your career? Labels and collaborations are essential for growth. Specifically, my collaboration with Cafe De Anatolia has opened doors to a global audience and provided a fresh perspective on my work. It is a massive opportunity to be recognized in countries far beyond my own borders, and I am honored to be part of the CDA family.

Do you have any advice for aspiring artists looking to break into the scene? Never stop chasing your dreams and keep knocking on doors. You will inevitably face difficult paths where it feels like you are on your own, but you must keep fighting for your passion. Persistence is key.

What can your fans expect next? I am focusing more on my presence as a performer and DJ. I may take a short break from the studio to focus on live sets and connecting with audiences in person.
